Fur is one of the three treasures of Pingliang. As early as the Ming Dynasty, the industry of making fur coat has been flourished, to the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, the furs fair in that region is regarded as a vital place gathering and delivering furs in Northwestern area. The products can be classified into two sorts: one is made of the fur of the old sheep, with long hairs and thin fur, hard and cold resistant quality; another is made of the lamb fur, with white and long hairs, genuine coiled 3-5 loops, looks very beautiful, light and warm. Its materials mainly come from Tan’er furs, Xiluheihua furs, various lamb furs, Sha furs, goat furs, and cat and dog furs. In which the hair of Tan’er furs is over one inch’s long, white as jades, warmer than the cotton, boasts ’nine loops’ and ’slicing radish’, with rolling floral veins, bears light and beautiful appearance; the Xiluheihua furs has a tight floral veins, shining, simple, elegant and decent, is the ideal fur coat.
