Bistort is the rootstalk of the polygonum. The bistort in Qinghai Province is also called Caoheche and Tanbuzi. In Tibetan , it is called “Ranbu”. The bistorts are mainly growing on the humid places 2000 to 4000 meters above the sea level. The rootstalks of the bistorts could be made to medicine. The bistorts have the functions of clearing the heat, detoxification and stopping bleeding. They could also be used as a cure for some diseases like fever, tetanus and bloody dysentery.
