Introduction to the City

Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (Hainan Prefecture for short), lying in the east of Qinghai Province, is also called Hainan, because it is situated on the south of famous Qinghai Lake, with many scenic spots noted in China and foreign countries which make people linger on. Its distinct tourist attractions are composed of distinctive ethic features, colorful religious festivals and culture and the mysterious and dignified ceremony in honor of the sea. Hainan has also attracted thousands of tourists from home and abroad, with a long history of Buddhism culture and magnificent scenery of the plateau, such as the famous Buddhism temple “Saizong Temple”, “the gate of the grassland” Moon and Sun Mountain, the first dam on the Yellow River -- Longyangxia Hydroelectric Power Station and the well known scenic spots all around the world for example Qinnhai Lake and Birds Island an so on, as well as splendid Horse Race Meeting and Flowers Concerts. The bright and colored ethic folklore of Nanhai Prefecture is unsophisticated and charming; there are 23 nationalities such as Han, Tibetan, Hui, Mongoloid, Tu and Hasake and so on. Green grasses, blooming wild flowers and tents dotting on the grassland, cattle and sheep spread out everywhere. With Plump Shouzuanyangrou, delicate Xiechang, intoxicating wine made from highland barley, fragrant Suyounaicha pervade in the grassland, and Tibetan women wearing colorful costumes appear and disappear among the tent farms. Uniqueness and mystery are the most irresistible temptation in Hainan Prefecture. In recent years the government invests more than 300 million RMB on the infrastructure for tour and construction of scenic spots. Hannan Zang Nationality Autonomous Prefecture, having two “trump cards” scenic spots :Qinghai Lake, which takes the first place among five beautiful lakes in China, and Gude Attraction, which is famous for clean water in the Yellow River, aims to be “the largest tourist Prefecture in Qinghai Province”, relying on the rich tourist recourses.
