Any suggestion for Chinese New Year?

Hello, I am expat living in Beijing, China looking for a place to travel to during this CHinese New Year holiday? Any place where can i experience some traditional Chinese festival flavor(food, performances, etc) will be firstly considered. Thanks for any of your advice.

- Hi, you can enjoy many special kinds of dumplings in north area of China, like Jilin, Jiangxi. In south cities, you can taste unique local snacks in many cities, such as Guangzhou, Chengdu.

- Do not travel around during the Chinese spring festival period. Trains, buses, airplanes are unbelievably crowded with people who are heading home for the family gathering.

- It's not wise to travel during the Spring Festival due to the traffic and snow storm through out the nation. Why not stay in Beijing? there are many funny things to do and various shows and food to enjoy.
