When will the Spring Festival Train ticket rush begin and will it impact me if I try to buy tickets for travel in early January?

Hi, as the following Spring Festival begins on February 2nd, 2011, the Spring Festival Train ticket rush mainly begin in mid-January. However, as Chinese New Year's Day falls on January 1st, the difficulty of buying train tickets may last for the whole January, February and March. So due to the difficulty of buying tickrts, you'd better book train tickets in advance.

It depends when is the Lunar New year. If it is in January, you wont be able to get it in the same month.

You're usually only allowed to purchase tickets about 10 days in advance. However, this is often extended for up to 20 days before at Chunjie time (Spring Festival). If you have a friend in China or know which hotel, etc you will be staying at, it would be wise to purchase the ticket on-line as soon as possible.

I'd advise you to book as far in advance as you can. There will be a huge demand for tickets.

Its manic for the week before and fortnight after CNY, but anytime in Jan will be tricky.
