I am an foreigner who have lived in Beijing for two years. I have been overwhelmed by all the tourist traps in Beijing. Anyone have any suggestions of what to do besides teh Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace. Are there any villages close to Beijing worh a visit. I am really interested in visiting a chinese village and seeing rural China. Thanks in advance.

- A picturesque mountain village, 3 hours'' drive from Beijing through winding mountain valleys. The ancient walled courtyard houses and alleys clamber up the hillside, and have remained largely unchanged for centuries. Many of the families (all descended from the original founder) open their homes to provide meals for visitors.
