- train china book online - post it in google and chose any company u want. try to do it in advance for real

- stay in a decent backpackers hostel like "the hump hostel" (in kun ming) and they should be able to arrange it for you for a small fee of about 20 yuan. tickets will be delivered to your hostel. or you can go to the train station yourself and have a crack at it.
