As far as I know, no trains run between Kunming and Tibet. There are currently several train services to Lhasa, capital of China's tibet region, departing from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing/Chengdu, Xining and Lanzhou. You may try the Tibet-yunnan highway if you want to start your journey from Kunming. Scenery on that way is superb but it's very long journey of around one week to get to the tibet capital and parts of the road is awful.
