The making of pyrograph, a traditional folk handiwork, in Weinan dates back to Western Han Dynasty (206-BC-25AD). The pyrograph is done by heating an iron pen and branding the wood or thick paper with decorative patterns by hand. And the making of pyrograph has several procedures, such as choosing the material, designing, drawing the sketch, branding, lacquering (mounting the pyrograph) and framing up the pyrograph. The finished pyrograph has simple but natural lines, vivid and fine brushwork and detailed description and is really of simple and antique style.
