Xian Ancient Culture and Art Festival is a grand cultural tourism festival in Xian. It began to be held in the year 1990 and has been held from Sep. 1 to Sep. 30 annually since then, aiming to developing the excellent national traditional culture and promoting the culture and art exchange at home and abroad.

Xian Ancient Culture and Art Festival assemble the essence of folk art in Shaanxi, containing various characteristic activities, such as local opera, playing gong and drum, setting off fireworks, puppet show and shadow play. Besides, there are also large-scale artistic performances from home and abroad. Each time, nearly one thousand artists come to participate in the festival and offer their performances. In addition, the exhibition and spot sale of folk crafts and souvenirs is also attractive, such as the characteristic paper cutting, clay sculpture, the imitation of Terra-Cotta Warriors, reproduction of ancient bronze chariot and horse, porcelain and glazed ware.
