The former residence of Sun Zi is a landscaping construction complex. The first period of the project started from May, 1991 and completed in April, 1992. The former residence of Sun Zi used to be Sun Wu Ancestral Temple built up in the first ruling year of Chongning Emperor in Yuan Dynasty. With the statue of Sun Zi at the center of the residence, there are Sun Zi College and Sun Zi Museum on both sides. At the back of the statue stands a wall carved with chapters of the Master Sun’s Art of War, and the wall separates the statue from the lake. The layout of the whole construction complex features appropriate and moderate space among different buildings. Besides, it boasts of undulant landform and varied landscape. For instance, the 100,000-square-meter natural lake in the garden now has been dredged up into Le’an Lake accompanied by Le’an Pavilion at its side; there are three bending-bridges over the lake, the surface of which is then divided into three parts. The east part has Sun Zi Statue as its background; the south part faces Sun Zi Pavilion and tourists can reach there by boat; the west part is covered by green lotus adding charm to the lake. Therefore tourists can not only appreciate the lovely, varied landscape of the residence but have more room to entertain themselves. The huge and grand Sun Wu Statue is the most noticeable construction in the residence. It stands at the center of the square with a wall and Le’an Lake at its back. On its west side lies the Sun Zi College which has seven exhibit rooms, namely, Book Collection Room, Research Room, Room of Paintings of Sun Zi, Root Art Room, Bingsheng Hall, Souvenir and Service Room, and Room of Gift.
