Jinan Weather

  Jinan , located in warm temperate zone, enjoys continental monsoon climate, with four distinct seasons. Jinan has the annual average temperature of 14.7℃, annual average precipitation of 671.1 mm and the yearly sunshine duration of 2,616 hours. Rainy season falls in July and August. The coldest month is January, with the monthly average temperature of -0.4℃, and the hottest month is July, with the average temperature of 27.5℃. Jinan boasts dry and windy spring, hot and humid summer, cool and clear autumn and dry and cold winter. Winter boasts prevailing northwest wind, north wind and northeast wind; thus, it’s dry, cold and sunny. Summer boasts southwest wind, south wind and southeast wind; thus it’s hot and humid. The best time to travel to Jinan is in autumn when tourists can appreciate the unique sight of spurting of springs.

Spring (March to May)

Spring lasts from March to May in Jinan, when the temperature rebounds very quickly. It’s very dry and windy, and there is large temperature difference during a day. The precipitation in spring amounts to about 90 mm, accounting for 14% of the total. The temperature ranges from 2.7℃ to 13.3℃ in March, from 10.5℃ to 21.6℃ in April and from 16.6℃ to 27.7℃ in May. For packing, thick clothes are necessary.

Summer (June to August)

Summer lasts from June to August in Jinan, with the average temperature of 26.7℃. It’s very hot and humid. The rainfall is about 450 mm, accounting for over 65% of the total. The torrential rain mainly concentrates in July and August, with the daily rainfall of 50 mm. The temperature ranges from 20.5℃ to 32.2℃ in June, from 23.3℃ to 32.7℃ in July and from 22.2℃ to 31.1℃ in August. For packing, besides summer clothes, raincoats, umbrellas and sun cream are needed.

Autumn (September to November)

Autumn, lasting from September to November, marks the end of rainy season. The weather becomes comfortable and cool, with the average temperature of 15.5℃ and average rainfall of 105 mm. The temperature ranges from 17.2℃ to 27.2℃ in September, from 11.1℃ to 21.6℃ in October and from 3.3v to 13.3℃ in November.

Winter (December to February)

Winter is from December to the following February, with the average temperature of 1℃. It’s dry, windy and chilly. Controlled by Mongolia cold high pressure, the temperature is dropping day by day. The rainfall is only about 20 mm, accounting for 3% of the total. The temperature ranges form -3.3℃ to 5.5℃ in December, from -5.5℃ to 3.3℃ in January and from -3.3℃ to 6.1℃ in January. For packing, warm clothes, such as down jackets are needed.
