Changxing Island and Hengsha Island are known to be the most naturally beautiful places in Shanghai and are located between Pudong New District and Chongming Island.

Changxing Island is a fairly newly developed island and is known by several different names such as the Longevity Island, Net Island and the Orange Township. The rich natural resources and beautiful natural conditions here have made the island one of the most popular tourist destinations.

The Main Attractions Changxing Island and Hengsha Island

Changxing Island is known as Shanghai’s green emerald and it is spread over an area of 76.32 sq km. One of the biggest benefits of visiting this island is that it is only half an hour from the mainland. The beautiful natural resources of the island have made it one of the most popular destinations with tourists. Some of the biggest attractions here are: Xingdao Holiday Club, Ludang Labyrinth, Shisha Zoo Park, Xianeng Holiday Village, Stunt City, Chuizhu Garden, the Horse Fields and the Orange Garden. Visitors can spend a day rowing boats in the waters of Ludang, picking up seashells or oranges at the Orange Garden. Every year in autumn, the island hosts the very popular Orange Art Festival which attracts thousands of people from every part of the world.

Hengsha Island

The Hengsha Island is the ideal summer resort even though it is quite smaller. The island is spread over an area of around 49 sq km with the Pudong New District located in southwest, Chongming in north and Changxing in the West. Hengsha Island is shaped like a large conch. Once you arrive on the island you will see the idyllic Orange Garden and bamboo forests.

Activities on Hengsha Island

One of the biggest attractions in Hengsha Island is the Hawaii Water theme Park. There are several activities offered in the park such as waterborne parachutes, sliding plate surfing and motor boats. You can enjoy a picnic and taste fresh local sea food. Other attractions on the island include Sun Watching Pavilion, Ocean Watching Tower, Mongolian Yurts, the holiday village and the sanitarium.

Both the islands are perfect for a day trip on a summer day and is a popular vacation, leisure destination. The atmosphere on the island is that of a vibrant village with its orange grooves and bamboo forests. The Water Park offers a number of activities and entertainment options. Tourists will find various entertainment options such as couples rowing, water parachutes, skateboards surfing, motor boats, fine sands and much more. Other than that, tourists can also try their hand at the local fishing style of the island. There are many rural delights to be enjoyed such as barbecues, picnics and fresh, simple sea food. The facilities available on the island includes Kiosks, watch towers, yurts, several resorts and much more.

How to Get There?

Visitors can reach the island by taking bus 849, 848, 728, 522, 116, 51 or 5 to the Wusong Dock. Take a ferry from the dock to reach the island directly.
