Once you step into the hall you will feel the sense of enlightenment from within. The building is very special with no wood, nails, steel or beams, and it is asymmetric.

It was honored in 1943 as the Second Class hall by the Roman Church. It has become a holy place for Catholic pilgrims in China. The church is very beautiful.

"Go there in May"

This is a nice place to spend a day. Apart from the Church there are some smaller chapels and niches with statues of Mary. If you have the opportunity to go there in May do so. This is the time when pilgrims from all over China come here to worship (May is apparently the month didicated to Mary), which is interesting to see. On the mountain there is also a Chinese pagoda and a fun fair. Try to enter through the back door, and not through the main entrance, in order to avoid the steep entrance fee!
