Yangpu bridge was completed and opened to traffic in October 1993, which echoes with Nanpu bridge at a distance. It’s the cross-river hub connecting Pudong (the east of Huangpu River) and Puxi (the west of Huangpu River) of the inner city ring road. The bridge is 7,654 meter long, with a span of 602 meters. The main bridge is 1,172 meters long and 30.35 meters wide and there are 6 lanes altogether. Ynagpu bridge is a double-tower and double-cable-stayed bridge and the upside down Y-shaped main tower is 208meters high. The bridge’s name written by Dengxiaoping is inlaid inside the triangle area of the main tower. The bridge is 48 meters high from the river that ships of millions of tonnage can cruise under it freely and it’s designed to enable 45,000 vehicles to pass it daily. Both sides of the river are the 2-meter wide sightseeing sidewalks.
