Live Bar is the main Chinese underground music venue in Shanghai . Located in an old factory building far up in the northern Yangpu District, Live Bar is the hub of Shanghais punk and rock scene, and every week there are a bunch of concerts with bands both from Shanghai and surrounding areas as well as from Beijing . It also organises occational underground festivals. The crowds are mainly there for the music (they tend to drop off once the band stops playing) although there also are DJ:s playing until late. The club consists of only one room with a large stage in the front and a small bar in the back, offering probably the cheapest beer of any bar in Shanghai. This is a good down-to-earth place to visit when you grow tired of the posh and chic downtown, or when you are craving for some punk, metal or folk rock.
