It is the glutinous-rice dumpling covering with a layer of adzuki bean. It is said that at the end of Qing Dynasty, an old lady called Lei made a living by selling this snack. In order to make the dumpling convenient to store and easy to carry so as to attract more  consumers, she tried many different materials for the layer and finally she found the adzuki bean.
