How to Get from Shanghai Pudong Airport to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport/Railway Station

Shanghai has two major airports: Pudong International Airport (PVG) mainly serves international flights, and Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) mainly serves domestic flights and some international flights as well.

Passengers usually transit from Pudong to Hongqiao may have a connecting flight to other destinations in China due to different airlines' hub locations, flight availability, or budget constraints.

To travel from Pudong International Airport (PVG浦东国际机场) to Hongqiao International Airport (SHA虹桥国际机场) in Shanghai, here are four common methods:

Option 1: Shanghai Metro (Subway) - Line 2, 1.5 Hours, Fastest and Cheapest Way

Take Line 2 (green line) at Pudong International Airport Station and continue all the way (stop at 27 stations) to Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 Station on the B1 floor. The trip typically takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes.

How to get from T2 to T1 in Hongqiao Airport: The fastest way is to take Metro Line 10 to Terminal 1 which takes 5 minutes and costs RMB3.

Option 2: Airport Bus - Line 1

Take the Airport Bus Line 1 from Pudong International Airport to Hongqiao International Airport. The trip takes approximately 1-1.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions.

How to Get to the Shuttle Bus Stop at Pudong Airport

The shuttle bus is located outside the terminal buildings at Pudong International Airport. Depending on which terminal you're at, follow signs for "Airport Shuttle" or ask airport staff for directions.

The bus Line 1 will take you to Hongqiao International Airport's Terminal 1 Building near Gate 1 on the 1st floor. If you need to get to Terminal 2, you can use the free shuttle bus that operates between the two terminals at Hongqiao Airport. The transit time is between 15 to 25 minutes. The bus operation hours are from 6 am to 11 pm.

Suggest to check the details of your onward flight. Make sure it is indeed scheduled to depart from Hongqiao Airport and you need a minimum of 4 hours for transit before the flight departure.

Option 3: Taxi - 1~1.5 Hours

Taxis are available 24/7 at both airports.

The journey takes about 1-1.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions.

Ensure you have the exact address written in Chinese characters for the taxi driver, as some drivers might not speak English. You can show them this 地址香港上海虹桥机场 or communicate that the destination is "Hongqiao Ji Chang."

Option 4: Private Transfers between Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport

Option 1: Subway/Metro Line 2 - Fastest and Cheapest

Take Metro Line 2 (Green Line) towards East Xujing and get off at Hongqiao Railway Station. The trip includes 14 stops and will take around 1 1/2 hours.

Option 2: Airport Shuttle Bus

Take the airport shuttle bus Line 1 directly from Pudong Airport to Hongqiao Railway Station. The ride may take around 1 hour and 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions, the bus fee costs RMB25 per person.

Option 3: Taxi

Taxi stands outside the arrivals level at Pudong Airpot. You can provide the driver with the address of Hongqiao Railway Station (Chinese: 虹桥火车站). The taxi ride may take approximately 1 hour to 1.5 hours and cost around RMB200-230 per trip.

Option 4: Pre-book Private Transfers with Us

How to Get from Hongqiao Airport to Hongqiao Railway Station

Passengers who need to transit between these two hubs can consider these options:

Option 1: Getting There by Foot

If you arrive at Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2, you can simply walk directly to the Hongqiao Railway Station.

The distance is approximately 700 meters (0.43 miles) and can be covered in around 10-15 minutes on foot.

These options are the most convenient as they do not require any transfers and are either quick or directly connected.

Option 2: Shanghai Metro

Take Line 10 (purple line) at Hongqiao Airport Terminal 1 Station (provided you are at Terminal 1). Ride for two stops and alight at Hongqiao Railway Station (虹桥火车站) without any transfer. The trip takes just a few minutes.
