Shanghai is the only city in the mainland of China which has two civilian international airports. There are a great number of Flights departing for or from Shanghai, of which the Pudong international Airport takes up 60% and the Hongqiao International Airport 40%. There is no exact division of labor between the two airports except that the Pudong International Airport caters to the international flights. Pudong International Airport is 30 km from downtown and 40 km from the Hongqiao International Airport, which is only 13 km from downtown.
There are many ways to Pudong International Airport from downtown.
1. Take No. 2 subway to the Long Yang station and then take No. 3 Airport Line to the airport within 40 minutes.
2. Drive to the airport directly along inner-ring road, Luo Hill Road, the Beltway Road (A20 Road), and the “Guest Road” (A1 Road).
3. Get to the Longyang Road first and then take a taxi to the airport which costs you about 80 Yuan.
4. Another important transportation to Pudong International Airport is the magnetic suspension train. The details are as follows:
Operating Time: 7:00am-21:00pm with intervals of 15 minutes
The Airport Stop: the east side of the waiting room of the Pudong International Airport (connected directly with a 300-metered corridor)
Ticket:
Ordinary: 50 Yuan for one-way ticket, 80 Yuan for return ticket
VIP: 100 Yuan for one-way ticket, 160 Yuan for return ticket
If you want to go to the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, besides the seven special lines to the airport, you can drive along the Yan’an Skyway till the end of it. Or you can take a taxi from the People’s Square which will cost you 40 Yuan.
