Shangqiu Swashed Steamed Bun

It is said to be invented in Ming Dynasty (1368AD-1644AD). Making method: slice the hard steamed bread into one-inch-long cake-shaped buns thick like a finger. After dried, soak the buns in hot water that is around 40 degrees, fry in boiled oil until they look golden, fish them out, and put into syrup. Then it will have fresh color and fragrant smell as well as a wonderful taste. As water is contained in syrup, the steamed buns need to be swashed in water after fried, so the dish is given the name as “swashed steamed bun.”

Sha Soup

Major ingredients are fresh and tender mutton, beef, and shredded chicken, and mix many kinds of seasonings like barley kernel. Cooking method: clean the prepared chicken, beef, and mutton overnight, put them into a special utensil (cover the pot with a cask), cook with slow fire, and thicken the cooked soup the next day morning. It is ready to eat when add sesame oil and pepper, hotbed tuber onion or young garlic bolt flower. There is neither smelling of fish nor mutton with fresh and original flavor.

Shrimps With Vegetables

It has been a famous dish of the ancient Guide City since Ming and Qing Dynasty (1368AD-1911AD). Cooking method: fry the wheat gluten in lukewarm oil, and slice it into pieces. Then add shrimps, champignon, white fungus, chicken and duck soup and stew with slow fire. The dish smells, tastes and looks good, along with a thick flavor of east Henan – rich color, strong aroma, and thick soup.

Ranjia Spiced Crucian

The dish was served as a tribute in the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1736 AD-1795 AD) in Qing Dynasty. Crucian in Xiayi City Lake is selected as the ingredient. Cut open its abdomen and take out the entrails without scraping the scales. After the fish is cured, fried, and stewed with many seasonings added into it, it will be ready. With a flavor strong, pure and aromatic, fish bone crisp while not out of shape, the delicacy is often served in banquets.

Weizhuang Sesame Confections

It is a traditional food in Shuangba Town of Liangyuan District. With a history of over 200 hundred years, it has enjoyed a long-lasting fame for its sweet aromatic smell and soft crisp taste. The sesame confections are identical in thickness, fully stained with sesame, and the two ends firmly sealed. Rather than sticking to you teeth, the confections taste both crisp and delicious.
