There were 108 heroes in it). The male roles are called ''Gu Yu'', they dance and play drums around their waists with their feet, and the female roles are called ''La Hua'', they must dance and play drums with their hands.
This kind of dance was developed in Song and Yuan dynasties. At that time, it got widely spread in Datong. Nowadays, it is still a popular activity in this area. In people's spare time, or when there are some good things happened, people will perform this dance happily. The melodies of its music are very sprightly, but the scene is very spectacular.
