Guangsheng Temple was first built in Jianhe period, east Han dynasty and was rebuilt in Ming dynasty. Guangsheng Temple was divided into upper Guangsheng Temple and lower Guangsheng Temple. Upper Guangsheng Temple is in the top of Huo Mountain and lower Guangsheng Temple is at the foot of Huo Mountain. The two parts of Guangsheng Temple are only five hundred meters far. Feihong Tower, the famous building in upper Guangsheng Temple, is the largest colored glaze tower existed so far. It is also the most well preserved colored glaze tower that China has. It is called China’s number one colored glaze tower. It was first built in Jiajing period, Ming dynasty. It is 37 meters high and has 13 floors. The surface of the tower was decorated by three color glaze. Under the sunlight, the whole tower reflects colorful light, just like a beautiful flying rainbow. So the tower is called Feihong tower which means flying rainbow.

Upper Guangsheng Temple consists of Feihong Tower, Minle Hall, Grand Xiongbao Hall, Bilu hall, Guanyin hall, Dizang hall, living rooms, and corridors. It was first built in Han dynasty and was repaired for several times. The present upper Guangsheng Temple was rebuilt in Ming dynasty, but the structure is of Yuan dynasty style.

The main buildings in lower Guangsheng Temple are Dafu hall and Water God hall. The most famous thing in lower Guangsheng Temple is Yuan dynasty fresco. In the walls of Water God hall, there are colorful frescos. Besides fables, the contents of the frescos also reflected common street scenery and village life. They could be seen as an epitome of the society at that time. They provided a valuable material for us to study the customs in Yuan dynasty.
