Forest of Steles of Mao Zedong poetries

Forest of Steles of Mao Zedong’s poetries is located on the mountainside of Mt. Shao, 3 kilometers away from Mao Zedong’s Former Residence. It started to be built in 1991, and was officially open to public in the year 1993. Forest of Steles of Mao Zedong’s poetries covers an area of about 20,000, constituted by over 100 white marbles, marbles and granites, and including Chairman Mao’s 50 poems in memory of Chairman Mao. The whole area is split into 5 parts according to Chairman Mao’s revolutionary career, and includes 4 periods based on chronological order. In the first periods, the poems were written when Chairman Mao was young. In the second period, the poems were written during great revolution and the second revolutionary civil war. In the third period, those poems were created during the Long March, the War of Resistance against Japan and the War of Liberation. In the fourth period, the poems were created after the founding of Republic of China. The poem monuments in the area stand in various shapes with countless changes, becoming an integral whole with the natural beauty of Mt. Shao.
