Water Dripping Cave, located in the western area of Mt. Shao, is a famous sight spot among the scenic spots of Mt. Shao. It got its name because a continuous stream keeps flowing through the cave throughout the year and there appears a hole in the stone due to the dripping. Water Dripping Cave is only 3 kilometers from Former Residence of Mao Zedong. Water Dripping Cave is 2.8 kilometers long, inside of which, there is a tortuous brook, luxuriant plants, tall and straight pine forests and hundreds kinds of flowers in full bloom all the year round on the bank along the brook. The precious forests and trees include gingko, glossy privet and sago cycas. The precious flowers and plants include azalea, plum, hibiscus flowers, roses and chrysanthemum. The precious medicinal materials include honeysuckle flower, glycyrrhiza, agilawood and ginkgo. Water Dripping Cave turns relatively cool in summer and comparatively warm in winter, which can be ranked as a unique and favorable place for visiting. In the cave, you will feel as if you were in a fairyland, keeping away from the hustles and bustles of the world. The cave becomes so renowned for the reason that Chairman Mao had stayed near it for several days.
