Wanglang Natural Reserve was built in 1965. It is one of the four earliest natural reserves for protecting rare wild animals and their habitats, such as the giant pandas, etc. The reserve is located at the center range of Himalayas. Its natural ecological system has been preserved well. The primitiveness, diversification, rareness, and typification of Wanglang Natural Reserve are famous all over the world.
In this reserve, it is rich in rare wild animals. There are national first class protection animals, such as the giant pandas, golden snub-nosed monkeys, takins, etc, total seven kinds. It is the important habitat for the giant pandas, and is the tie to relate with the population of the giant pandas in Minshan Mountain. There are various kinds of primitive plants, among which many are traditional Chinese Medicine, Ornamental flowers, and forest vegetables. The primitive forest at Wanglang Natural Reserve is the one with best preservation. The scenery in each season has different beautiful features. In summer, it is cool here, with the mean temperature of 12.7℃. So it is a good place for cooling, appreciating flowers, and tasting forest vegetables. In fall, the whole reserve is covered with red leaves. In winter, visitors can see snow scenery and watch some wild animals. There lives an old and unique nationality-Baima Tibetan Minority near Wanglang Natural Reserve. Their language, custom, and culture are quite different with others. They still keep the traditional culture, and form a special ecological tourist area, together with the natural scenery of Wanglang.

Baima Tibetan Minority lives in Pingwu. They have no characters, but have their own language. It is an old but unique nationality.
In the past, the nationality lived in unites, according to their different religions. Men wear white and dark blue long dress, with a belt on their waist. Women wear the necklaces, which made of fish bones. They are decorated with colorful cloths. Their clothes show the beauty and harmonization. All people wear the hats, which are made of white sheep furs. They put some roosters’ furs on their hat. These furs stand for their own nationality’s mark.
Bao’en Temple
It is a key historic and cultural site under the government’s protection. The whole temple occupies an area of 27,000 square meters. It is an ancient building, hidden under the dense trees. The temple is large in size, with many great carvings on the roof beams. The temple has never been weaved with spider nets since the 500 years. And the temple keeps still although there were several serious earthquakes. It is accredited as “a unique relic in the Ming Dynasty” by the experts on researching earthquakes. Therefore, Bao’en Temple is a historic and cultural relic, which is of high historical value, art value, and scientific value.
