Xichang Ancient City is located in the middle part of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. With the area of over 2,600 square kilometers, Xichang is a provincial historic cultural city boasting a history of over 2,000 years. Due to its favorable weather condition including elevation, temperature, sunlight, longitude and latitude, the moon there seems quite bright, round and big. So, Xichang is also reputed as Moon City. Xichang features a variety of ancient sites, including historical settlement sites, townsite, kiln relics, mining and metallurgy ruins of various dynasties, such as Neolithic Age, Yin and Shang dynasties, Spring and Autumn Period, Warring States, Qin and Han dynasties, Jin Dynasties, Tang Dynasty, Song Dynasty, Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty.
