Transportation
Yibin, the initial place of South Silk Road in ancient China, has emerged as the leading hub for water, highways, railways and air transport and the distribution of material and commodities in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River . The region's natural waterways provide convenient transportation links with the surrounding area, and it is also closely connected to Chongqing and Chengdu by rail. Yibin is one of the six major harbors along the Yangtze River. The Neijiang- Kunming Railway runs right across the city to join with Chengdu-Chongqing Raiway. A second-grade local airport is operating lines to Beijing , Shanghai , Cantong, Chongqing, Chengdu and other big cities. Yibin is also crisscrossed by standard cement highways. A drive from Yibin to Chengdu or Chongqing will take only 4 hours after the high-grade Neijiang-Yibin Highway was completed.
