Wushan Jade Carving, Tianshui

Wushan County is teemed with Yuanyang jade, whose colors include emerald green, blackish green, light green and reddish brown. The jade is mainly carved into luminous glasses. There are also some jade carvings of figures, flower and landscape, birds and beasts, incense burners and vases, four treasures of the study (i.e. writing brush, ink stick, ink slab and paper), tea sets and other tourist souvenirs and craftworks. Those works with the theme of “silk road” and the local culture in northwestern China are quite popular with the tourists, for example, the square furnace, ancient road and the grottoes, Fu Xi, and the three-legged furnace.
