Tongling ginger is a local specialty of Tongling area and one of “the Eight Treasures” of Tongling. According to the historical record, it is the representative of Chinese white ginger. It has been well known since Jiajing period, Ming dynasty. It has the feature of huge outlook, thick meat, and little sediment, fragrant, crisp with good quality as well. It is suitable for eating for the time being or salted with many ways. The most precious one should be Buddhist Hand Ginger produced by She family of Tianmen town, Tongling county. The finished product has many varieties and is characterized with fragrance, sweetish and hot flavor. It can help improve your appetite, drive off cold and poison, clear phlegm.
