Information here is old. You need to pay for entrance and from Yixian you can also take a bus to come here.

After having been to Lijiang and Dali in Yunnan, I was afraid Hongcun might have, like these 2 cities, lost its charm because of the touristic over-exploitation. But Hongcun is different. Unlike Dali and Lijiang, you can really feel that people are living in Hongcun (and not just selling souvenirs), in fact there are very few souvenir shops. Villagers even invited us to have dinner with them, which is not something that could happen in a very touristic village like Dali or Lijiang (not in the old town where all the cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops are, at least). The city is gorgeous, so as the scenery. Hongcun is one of my best memory in China.

I Love the meal at Hongcun, we walked through the village to get there, in a local place where we could eat outside under the trees, or inside cooled by a fan, and sit out the midday heat.

The place here is supramundane, right? Let’s have romance under the eaves.

The genuine friendliness of the people and the pretty scenery there impress me a lot.

This tiny village at the foot of the Yellow Mountain offers a tranquil countryside atmosphere. Many travelers opt for a leisure stroll along its narrow slab-paved alleys, admiring those old buildings, inhaling the fresh air and getting a feel of China's countryside life.
