Sheep catching is a traditional sport for all ethic groups in Sinkiang, especially the herdsmen of Hazakstan, Kirkiz, Tajik and Mongolia. Sheep catching is full of antagonism and scramble. It is often performed at festivals or celebration activities. The players can be divided into two groups or have no division of groups. A sheep without head is put in an appointed place; the two groups would run to the horse; one person got the sheep and his team member help him and run to the end point; the other group tries to prevent them and get the sheep from them; the one arrives at the end point with the sheep is the winner; according to the custom, the winner roasts the sheep on the spot and invites other riders to enjoy the "happy mutton".
