Vietnam, short for the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, is located in the eastern part of Indo-China Peninsula. It borders China in the north and borders Laos and Cambodia in the west. The east and south of Vietnam faces South Sea, with a coastline of more than 3,260 kilometers (about 2025.67 miles). Vietnam is situated on the eastern coast of Indo-China Peninsula, measuring 600 kilometers (about 372.82 miles) from north to south. Vietnamese describe their country as a shoulder pole carrying two bamboo baskets, indicating that the two main granaries are the Mekong River Delta and Red River Delta. As Vietnam has abundant forest resources, Vietnam is also a producer of rubber plantations. As Vietnam has opened to the outside world for a short time, its scenery maintains its original charm of simplicity, which is unique to Vietnam. After travelling in Hu Chi Minh City, tourists can pay a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels which is located about 75 kilometers (about 46.60 miles) northwest of Hu Chi Minh City. Puppet show has a history of nearly one thousand years in Vietnam. Apart from the on-land puppet show, there is a unique water puppet show in Vietnam. The artist who controls the puppet must stand in the water deep to his chest, hiding himself/herself behind the long curtain and controlling the puppet with the bamboo sticks. From the Vietnamese people’s attitude towards puppet show, we can see that Vietnamese people cherish their art and history a lot.
Best Visiting Time
Vietnam enjoys a tropical monsoon climate with two distinct seasons, including a dry season and a rainy season. The striking feature of the tropical monsoon climate is the high temperature and abundant rainfall. The average annual temperature in Vietnam is 25℃. Except rainy season, tourists can travel to Vietnam at any time of a year. The rainy season lasts from May to October. During the rainy season, there is heavy rain and frequent rainstorms and the weather is hot and wet. Thus, tourists had better not travel to Vietnam during the rainy season. The dry season lasts from November to April of the following year, during which the weather is quite dry. The cool season in Vietnam lasts from November to February, during which, it is clear and sunny. Thus the cool season is the best time for tourists to visit Vietnam when they can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery, such as the green mountains and pellucid water. The hot season lasting from March to April is not a good time for tourists to visit Vietnam, unless choosing to go to some summer resorts such as Sabah and Da Lat.
Unique Tourist Features: “stone forest on the sea” and “romantic Saigon”
The Halong Bay is well known as the “stone forest on the sea”. There, tourists can appreciate the uncanny workmanship of the nature. Ho Chi Minh City, which is also called the “oriental Paris”, was named Saigon in the past. There, tourists can visit the ruins of the Vietnam War in the day and enjoy the natural scenery along the Saigon River on cruise boat at night. Phan Thiet can be called the best resort in South Vietnam. There, tourists can enjoy the beautiful outlines of the sand dunes. Last but not least, when travelling in Vietnam, tourists should not miss the scenery of Mekong River which is the longest river in Southeast Asia.
