Hongmao medicinal liquor is produced in Hongmao Winery, Liangcheng Town of Wulanchabu City. According to written history, a man called Wang Tianji, from Wangjia Fort, Yuci of Shanxi Province, came to found the “Longshengrong”Winery in the forth year of Emperor Qianlong (1739). Hongmao medicinal liquor is a kind of tonic liquor. Composed of more than 60 kinds of precious medicinal materials, its main ingredients are high-quality ginseng, musk, tiger bones, safflower and sugar etc. All of these medicinal materials are put into the old Kaoliang spirit, and then steamed, boiled and refined. Hongmao medicinal liquor smells mellow and looks pleasingly orange. It has the function of eliminating rheumatism, extending muscles and speeding blood circulation, strengthening the body and building the stomach. It enjoys the reputation of “In the south the best spirit is Mao-tai, in the north is Hong Mao”.
