Brief Introduction to the Scenic Spot
The part of the river from the Baiyanghe Reservoir to Wu’erhe ranges from east to west. It’s 24 kilometers long and commonly about 400 meters wide. The narrowest place is about 200 meter wide and the widest place is about 600 meters wide. The banks of the two sides of the river are steep, with a height of about 20 to 30 meters. The surface of water is about 5 to 10 meters wide and about 50 centimeters deep in the river valley. The river zigzags along the valley. The thick poplar forest is on the two sides of river. The main varieties of tree are Huyang, Grey poplar, almond leaved willow, and oleaster. The main varieties of shrub are small bell thorn, rosebush, willow, white thorn, etc.. There are a wide variety of herbs. Most belong to the grass family and Leguminosae, such as, splendid achnatherum, bitter bean, licorice, etc.. The vegetation coverage rate is about 60 percent. Huyang is one of ancient and rare tree species in Xinjiang . It’s the preponderant tree in the bank forest in the desert. It can resist drought, keep out wind - blown sand and bear the corrosion of salt and alkali. The tree has a little difference with common poplar trees in shape. The tree trunk is thick and sturdy with a lot of branches. There are two types of leaf. One is in the shape of the leaf of the willow and the other is in the shape of the ellipse. The crown of the tree is wide and round. The Huyang that has grown up make people feel it vigorous and tall and straight. The tree species of Huyang and arbor accounts for above 60 percent of the all tree species on the Baiyanhe Valley. The trees are 6 to 10 meters high. The diameters of the trunks are 20 to 30 centimeters. The longest diameter can reach 40 centimeters. There are reddish brown mudstones and sandstones of the cretaceous system on the walls of the two banks of the river valley.
The Poplar River rises in Wu’ergeshen’er Mountain, in the western mountain region of Zhunge’er. It’s 170 kilometers long in total. It finally flows into the Ailike Lack. The Baiyanghe Valley referred to above is the thickest part of the valley forest. The scenery is very beautiful. The trees grow thick in the river valley. The river zigzags. The temperature here is obviously lower than that of the surrounding area in summer. It’s a good place for rest and recreation at leisure and spending summer holidays.

Everyone knows that Karamayi is dry city which is located in desert. It should not be very strange to see the desert there, but I was so impressed when I saw this heavily wooded place. The water in Scenic Spots of Bayanghe is so clean; the poplar trees there are green and tall. I remember that I got there at August last year, and the weather in Xinjiang is very hot. But in Scenic Spots of Bayanghe, it was so cool. I think that it is the “Summer Palace” in Karamayi.
