It is mostly produced in Gougou and Hetou Villages in Pingding County. People start to produce it from the year of the Emperor Hongwu of Ming Dynasty (1368-1398). Its crisp, tasty and refreshing flavor makes it the most popular food for people. In Qing Dynasty, the dried cucumber had been appointed as the tribute to royalty which got the name of “Dragon Muscle”. The dried cucumber is made by young cucumber which is of high quality. So it is full of nutritional components, such as vitamin, kalium salt, amino acid and glucide which can accelerate the squirm of intestines and stomach and to reduce the function of cholesterol. Pingding Cucumber not only satisfies the need of the local people, but sells to Beijing and Tianjin as well.
