Covering an area of 5,300square kilometers, the museum was built like Buddist temple in a typical Western Xia style. Combining features of modern architecture and royal atmosphere of the mausoleum, the museum has a strong flavor of Tangxiang minority.

671 typical cultural relics and 413 volumes of monographs, together with thesis and magazines of Western Xia Dynasty are showed in this museum, such as stone pillars with carved dragons, stone horses, glazed sparrow hawks, epitaphs, carved stone portraits, Buddhist Scriptures, Buddhist paintings, armors, porcelains, official seals and so on. The newly-built Hongfo Tower maitains its former style but only one sixth of its former size. Eight frescos copies are on the 2nd floor of the new tower, unfolding the cream of Xixia Grotto, the magnificence of Western Xia Kingdom and mysteries in the history of this kingdom.
