Xishuangbanna is located at the ultmost southeast part of China . It is not only the major passageway and base to Southeast Asia and south Asia, but  a window of Yunnan province opened to the world. 

Xishangbanna Region covers an area of 19,124.5 square kilometers with an population of 840,000 including Dai, Hani, Lahu, Blang, Jinuo and nine other ethnic groups. Xishuangbanna has jurisdiction over Jinghong, Menghai, Mengla and 11 state-runned farms. Its boundary line reaches 966.29 kilometers, 677.8 kilometers with Laos and 288.49 kilometers with Burma. There are three state ports, one provincial port, and six highways, one river connecting with Laos and Burma
