Sweet potato cake is a popular snack and a nice gift for friends in Zhanjiang. When making the food, people steam or boil the sweet potato first, peel off and mash up it. Then they mix some starch and hot water into the mashed sweet potato, knead the mixture into some thin flat round wrappers, and put in some stuffing of parched shredded coconut, sesame, peanuts with sugar and candied melon. After that, they put two or three pieces of jackfruit leaves and steam them.

The sweet potato cakes are chewy, soft, fragrant and delicious. And they can be preserved for a long time. If the food has been preserved for a long time, it tastes the same as the fresh food only after being steamed for a while.
