The West Lake lotus festival  is held  annually from July  to  August .There are all kinds activities including picking the seedpod of the lotus, shelling the lotus seeds, making lotus meal, appreciating the folk opera,  attending the lotus trading fair and exhibitions of lotus of all species, etc..
