It is commonly called Yingge (parrot) Opera. There has always been a parlance of "seventy-two Yingge plays" among the performers. They are mainly about temporal matters, such as affairs between man and woman and conflicts among different wives of a man, most of which are scenes of the life of lower classes. The performances are teasing and facetious, performers usually bringing the real people, matter and place into play of the time being and common saying into singing. Most Dan actors hold embroidered kerchief and Hualian hold paper fan. Their unpolished acts are same as the one in daily life.
