Nanji Chain Islands

The chain islands on the Nanji Mountain have elegant and beautiful oceanic sceneries with well preserved ecology. It is not only the sole national-level oceanic nature preservation zone (shells and algae) in our country, but also one of the world biosphere preservation zones staked out by the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).

The Nanji chain island is a scenic resort for traveling, passing the summer, taking holidays, recuperating, savoring seafood and sporting in sea water. The beach which is covered with sand and strewn with shells is 800 meters wide and 600 meters long. The sea water is clear and transparent with a visibility of more than five meters. There are 368 species of fishes, 180 species of shrimps and crabs and other hundreds of species of overland animals. It is also engrossing for golden sand, blue sea, exotic reefs and stones, extraordinary peaks and graceful caves. It is worthy of the reputation as the “blue sea and celestial mountain”.  

 The Nanji Island is the main island of the Nanji chain islands in a shape of muntjac with the head in a northwestward direction and the tail in a southeast direction. It has an average annual temperature of 16.5℃. The sea water is clear and blue all the year around. The rocks develop into the landscapes of sea cliff, column, cave, and platform, etc, due to the long-term erosion and swash of sea waves. There are scenic areas, such as Dasha’ao, Guoshengao, Sanpanwei, Dalei Mountain, and Bamboo Islet, etc.

During the peak period, the tickets for the boat leaving from Aojiang can’t satisfy the demands. Therefore, you have to book passage in advance. Even if you have boarded the island, you have to buy return ticket immediately or let the owner of the hotel book the ticket for you. In case of typhoon or strong wind at level 9 or above, the shipping service will be suspended completely and the booking will also be invalid. When you book a ticket, you should choose a ship with greater motivation as much as possible, as ships with lesser motivation will also be becalmed in case of strong wind at level 8. When taking a ship, you should take medicines for sea sickness without fail. Recommended time for a visit：Three hours
