The pub is an idiomatic Tibetan cowshed. In general, the buildings of Tibetans in Diqing are two floors. Up is high and down is low. People live on the up floor while the down floor is cowshed. Thus, it’s very convenient for the habitants to sweep the living rubbish to the cowshed though a small hole that is made when the house is built. After the continuous tramples
by the ox living in the down floor, the rubbish becomes fertilizer useful for Tibetans because local people lacked chemical fertilizer in the past. Tibetans make use of the leaves of chestnut to clean the foul smell. Therefore, cowsheds are closely related to Tibetan culture of folk house and animals.
So far, a cowshed has become a fashionable pub. It is said that the host of the pub is an overseas Chinese artist.
