Qingdao Liuting Airport

Written by Ruru Zhou Updated Sep. 1, 2021

The Qingdao Liuting International Airport is the main airport that serves Qingdao, a city located in the Shandong Province in China. The airport is located in the Chengyang District in Qingdao City, which means it is about 23 to 31 kilometers away from the city center. It is a focus city for Shandong Airlines and China Eastern Airlines.

The old airport, which dates back to 1958, is one of the most important air transit hubs in all of China. Despite its age, the airport is currently very modern and is equipped with a lot of facilities to accommodate its busy traffic movements, thanks to an expansion conducted from 2004 to 2006. The expansion increased the airport’s capacity to over 5.2 million passengers every year and 120,000 tons of cargo every hour. By 2011, the airport is considered as the 16th busiest airport in China.

For faster transport, you can also take a taxi directly to the Liuting International Aiport from the city center or vice versa. The taxis are available outside the gate of the Domestic Arrivals Hall. The rates vary depending on the time and the length of the journey. Here’s the general schedule of taxi fares:

The nighttime rates are higher as there is a nighttime surcharge for the taxi rates, which is common in China.

Generally, a taxi trip going to the Qingdao Central Business District from the Qingdao Liuting International Airport costs 85-130 RMB. The trip usually takes just 45 to 60 minutes, especially if the driver takes Highway 308, which is faster than the Qing-Yin Expressway.
