Upon arrival in Beijing, your Beijing tour guide will escort you to hotel. The rest of the day can explore the city on your own.Free time ideas: For your solo adventure, you can take a visit to the Ancient Observatory. If you are traveling with kids, Beijing Amusement Park is a good choice.

Good day for early risers: morning firstly go people-watching on the biggest public square that is Tian'anmen Square. Enter the Forbidden City, following history's footsteps. Also known as The Palace Museum or Royal Palace Museum, here you will visit Hall of Mental Cultivation, Hall of Supreme Harmony, Palace of Heavenly Purity and Royal Garden.

Have a lunch at local restaurant where you could choose the dishes you liked. Continue our trip to climb up to the Jingshan Park and get a the panoramic view of the Forbidden City and Beijing.

And then you will hop on a rickshaw to ride through the narrow alleys as well as visit a local family then walk on the Silver Ingot Bridge (Yinding Bridge) and find out about the different thresholds of the courtyards.

 

-Tips:

  • We enter the Forbidden City from the South Gate, and already book the ticket in advance so you can skip the line in the entrance.
  • To kill the night, try Houhai Bar Street with bars and cafes of all sizes and styles.

Temple of Heaven, The Mutianyu Great Wall(with round way cable car)

Today’s tour starts from your hotel to the Great Wall at Mutianyu Section. Mutianyu is noted for better views and less crowded compared to Badaling. You will enjoy round-way cable car ride up and down. Or an option to take a chilling sild-way downhill. Have lunch in a farmhouse restaurant before getting back to downtown Beijing.

Visit the Temple of Heaven, where Emperor would come to pray in the Spring for a successful planting and in the Fall in thanks for a plentiful harvest. There is a HUGE calisthenics area in the park, full of people working out. 60 year old men crushing Muscle Ups, dips, many locals are dancing or playing Chinese yoyo.

Today you will have half day free in Beijing before the train departing at noon time. Refer to our suggested activities as follow.

- Smart Tips:

  • Beijing Zoo is an all-time favorite for both kids and adults.
  • The Drum Tower still keeps drumming every hour from 9:30am to 4:30pm (except 12:30pm), 9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am etc. Aside the drumming show, the tower offers great view of how everything in Beijing is aligned with the Forbidden City.

Then meet your Shanghai guide in the railway station upon arrival.

The Bund, Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai Tower

Pick up from your hotel, and firstly to Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in the world, it is exhilarating experience going up and down by the fast elevator to the observation floor, enjoy the best view of Shanghai and Huangpu river.

Then will visit Yuyuan Garden, a classical private garden in the style of Southern China. Stroll around and see amazing gardens, buildings, rocks and Koi filled ponds. Outside surrounding by a bustle market of souvenir shops and restaurants.

Take a walk along Shanghai’s iconic - The Bund, on the road side is where the historic colonial-era buildings are, and they have been restored to perfection. Look cross river at massive modern skyscrapers of all different designs and sizes. Cross the road through two blocks is Nanjing Road, with shops ranging from street-style chic to high-end brands. Take your time for shopping if you interested.

Note: Yuyuan Garden will be closed on every Monday for maintenance (except Chinese public holiday). Your travel advisor will arrange other sites for visit instead in this period.

Shanghai

Zhujiajiao Boat Ride, Zhujiajiao Water Town

Today we will take an hour drive to Zhujiajiao Water Town, your guide will introduce a lot of insight into the history of Zhujiajiao. The town has numbers of stone bridge from which you can take pictures. We arrange to ride a gondola on the waterway that winds through the town. The historic area lines both sides of the river and is crossing by a number of small canals. You can imagine how does Chinese houses looks like by visiting a nice house with beautiful garden.

- Smart Tips:

Go with an empty stomach if you want to try taste local snacks. It literally food everywhere. From dessert mochi to stinky tofu such as the quail eggs, wrapped sticky rice dumplings and lamb skewers
