This 5-day Beijing Great Wall hiking tour stretches out on the oldest sections of the Great Wall. Our professional hiking guide will lead your way through 5 sections: Jiankou, Mutianyu, Gubeikou, Jinshanling and Simatai West.
Welcome to China! As you arrive in Beijing, you will feel warm welcome by your Beijing tour guide and driver. You will be escorted to hotel for check-in. Free time afterwards.
, Hiking from Jiankou to Mutianyu (5 hrs, 10 km),
In the morning, your Beijing tour guide and driver will escort you to the National Olympic Venues. Here you will have a 30-minute walk outside the Bird's Nest and Water Cube. Have lunch before we head to the Great Wall.
A 2-and-a-half-hour drive is needed to get to Xizhazi Village, at the mountain foot of the Jiankou Section of the Great Wall. This section is noted for its wild and rugged beauty. Our hike starts here and within one hour, you will reach Zhengbei Watch Tower at the top of the mountain. Stand at the tower and look westward, you will see collapsed walls sneaking along the ridgeline.
Hiking eastward for 3 hours, you will reach the Great Wall at Mutianyu Section. At this section, you may encounter many foreign travelers. This section is extremely beautiful at summer and autumn. Instead of walking down the mountain, you can choose an easier relax by toboggan or cable car.
Your driver and private van will be waiting at the parking lot, and they will take you and your Beijing tour guide to Gubeikou Village. Stay overnight at the village.
- Smart Tips:
There are a lot of loose rocks and bricks on the Jiankou Section, you need to be extra careful while hiking.
We will arrange a clean and safe guesthouse at Gubeikou Village. There's nothing luxury to expect in the laid-back village.
Rise up early and we will have breakfast in the gusethouse. Afterwards, our hike starts at the mountain foot of the Gubeikou Section of the Great Wall. This section is not that challenging as Jiankou but with awesome views that are just ideal for photographers.
The section is made up of two parts: Panlong Mountain and Wohu Mountain, literally meaning crouching dragon and hidden tiger, just as that film. Panlong Mountain is comparatively much hiker-friendly and safer and our hike starts here.
After hiking 2 hours, you will reach a military zone. And you will need to take a detour down the valley and start another phase of hiking towards the Jinshanling Section of the Great Wall.
After the hike, your driver will take you back to Gubeikou Village.
Rise up early again, you will be the first one to step on the Jinshanling Section of the Great Wall. Good chance to photo the rugged and magnificent wonder in an early daylight.
Along your hike at the section, you will see a lot of watch towers and scattered ruins of the wall. Simatai Section is now closed and your Beijing tour guide will you to Simatai West. This part of the Great Wall is isolated, bleak and wild, just a perfect stop for your Great Wall hiking adventure.
Your hike will end before noon and be back to Beijing downtown for a hotpot lunch. After the lunch, your Beijing tour guide will take you for a foot massage (fee included), which is just thoughtfully relaxing after 4 days of hiking. Be back to your hotel in Beijing.
