Pengzhou Peony Festival to Open

Pengzhou Peony Festival is to be held in April, near the date of Tomb-sweeping Day, in Pengzhou garden and Mt. Danjing. During the festival, tourists can not only appreciate the famous and precious peonies, but also have the opportunity to visit Mt. Danjing, take part in various cultural entertainment activities with rich local characteristics and have a taste of special and local products.

From the ancient times, peony has been celebrated as the symbol of happiness, good luck, peace and prosperity. Pengzhou, located in the north of Chengdu City, is the largest peony cultivation base in Southwest China, with a long history of over 1,000 years. Pengzhou Peony Festival was firstly held in 1985 and has been held annually since then, ranked as one of the largest peony festivals in China, together with Luoyang Peony Festival and Heze Peony Festival. Pengzhou peony features wide varieties, big petals and faint scent, which are deeply fond of by tourists.

There are two peony exhibition areas in Pengzhou, including Tianpeng Peony Garden and Peony garden of Mt. Danjing. Mt. Danjing is famous for its rich peonies with the plant area of more than 30 mu and is also one of the most famous places of historical interests of Sichuan Province.
