Henan Transport

Henan Province is located in the urban belt of Beijing, Tianjin, Tangshan, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Chengdu and Chongqing, which is a communications hub and a crucial portal for entering the six provinces in Northwest China.

Due to the advantageous geographic location, Henan becomes a decisive comprehensive traffic hinge in China.


In Henan Province, Zhengzhou, Shangqiu, Luoyang, Nanyang and Xinyang are all communications hubs of national railway traffic. Zhengzhou North Railway Station is the largest railway passenger and cargo marshalling station in Asia. Zhengzhou East Railway Station is the largest transfer station of railway transport in China. Besides, the new Zhengzhou East Railway Station and Zhengzhou high-speed railway station are the super-huge type comprehensive traffic hinges of high speed railway with the projected speed of 350 kilometers.

Henan has developed highway transportation network, which includes 9 national super highways, over 20 regional and local super highways and 9 national roads (105, 106, 107, 207, 310, 311 and 312) passing through Henan Province from south to north.

There are beltways in Zhengzhou, Luoyang and Shangqiu. Until the end of 2011, the highway traffic mileage of Henan Province totals 5,142 kilometers, which ranks first in China.


In Henan Province, there are 5 major civil aviation airports, namely Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, Luoyang Beijiao Airport, Nanyang Jiangying Airport, Shangqiu Airport and Xinyang Minggang Airport. Zhengzhou air harbor is ranked as one of China’s top 8 aviation hubs by Civil Aviation Administration of China. Zhengzhou is the base of several airlines, such as China Southern Airlines, Kunpeng Airlines and Shenzhen Airlines. At present, Zhengzhou Airport offer flights to 67 cities and regions at home and abroad with 90 air routes.


The water transportation concentrates in Luohe, Zhoukou, Zhumadian and Xinyang in eastern Henan. The main inland ports include Luohe Port, Huaibin Port, Wanggang Port and Zhoukou Port.
