Indonesian local cuisine has rather strong flavors. Various kinds of condiments are often used, such as coconut milk, black pepper, clove, cardamom and curry . Usually, chili sauce is indispensable on the dining table of the local people. Among all the Indonesian dishes, the most typical one is Masakan Padang, which is famous for the deep frying and strong pungency. Masakan Padang is recommended for tourists who like the taste of peppery. Besides, there are also some other famous dishes that Indonesians like, such as Satay (a dish of marinated, skewered and grilled meats, served with a sauce), Rendang (meat and vegetables were slowly cooked in coconut milk and other condiments for several hours till the liquid is gone) and curry.

Indonesian characteristic snacks are mainly fried banana, glutinous rice ball, fish ball, fried rice and various kinds of roasted pastries. The most popular food which are popular with tourists are the local tropical fruits, such as durian, mangosteen, mango, rambutan, duku, salak, papaya, papaya, sapodiia, custard apple, bananas, pineapples, sugar apples, avocados, pomelos and orange. There are totally several scores of bananas. Coconuts can be seen everywhere and they are popular drinks with low prices.
