Gubeikou Great Wall Hike
Gubeikou Great Wall is a stretch of the original Great Wall, comprising the Wohushan Great Wall, Panlongshan Great Wall, Jinshanling Great Wall, and Simatai Great Wall.
Gubeikou to Jinshanling
There is no direct route to traverse between the Gubeikou Great Wall and the Jinshanling Great Wall. However, the distance is not long. You just need to exit the Great Wall at the 24 Watchtower Tower in Gubeikou, walk around a small village for about 1.5 hours, and then you can return to the Jinshanling Great Wall.
Proceed along the Jinshanling Great Wall for about an hour on foot until you reach the West Five watchtower, which is a commanding height of the Jinshanling Great Wall and also an optimal spot for photographing the Great Wall.
Gubeikou to Simatai
Heading east from Jinshanling Great Wall, you will arrive at Simatai Great Wall. Simatai Great Wall is the only ancient architectural site in China that retains its original Ming Dynasty appearance, renowned for its five characteristics: steepness, density, uniformity, ingenuity, and completeness.
Gubei Water Town
Gubei Water Town is located at the foot of the Simatai Great Wall, with an architectural style similar to Wuzhen. It is a distinctive ancient-style town that also preserves the Ming Dynasty Great Wall ruins. Unlike Wuzhen, Gubei Water Town is far from bustling urban areas, more like a peaceful retreat amidst the hustle and bustle of the city.

How to Get to Gubeikou Great Wall from Beijing
Take a Taxi: It takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes from Tiananmen to Gubeikou Great Wall, and the fare is CNY400.
Trains from Beijing North Railway Station, Qinghe Station, and Changping North Railway Station to Gujikou are available. After leaving the railway station, you can take the bus Mi25 to the Gubeikou Great Wall, and the cost of the bus is RMB2.

Scenic Spots of Gubeikou Great Wall
Wohushan Great Wall: Wohushan Great Wall is located in Hexi Village in Gubeikou Town of Miyun County, which is 665.2 meters above sea level. It was built in the Ming Dynasty with a full length of 13.6 kilometers, which contains a great many watchtowers. Wohushan Great Wall became a masterpiece in the history of Great Walls for its long history, ingenious distribution, steepness, and complete facilities.
Panlongshan Great Wall: Located between Simatai Great Wall and Wohushan Great Wall, Panlongshan Great Wall is 5,000 meters long and contains about 40 watchtowers. Many battles used to happen on this Great Wall. Panlongshan Great Wall was of great strategic importance on Gubeikou Great Wall in ancient times, and during ancient battles, once it was captured, the whole Gubeikou Great Wall would be easily captured.
Simatai Great Wall: Located in Gubeikou Town in the northeast of Miyun County, 120 kilometers from downtown Beijing, Simatai Great Wall is 5.4 kilometers long and contains 35 watchtowers. Simatai Great Wall has kept its original characteristics since it was built in the Ming Dynasty and it’s the only ancient architectural ruin remaining the original appearance of the Ming Dynasty (1368 AD to 1644 AD). Simatai Great Wall is considered the highlight of the Great Wall and has become renowned at home and abroad.
