Customers' Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need a visa to visit Beijing?
If you are from the US, the UK, Canada, or 52 other countries, you may qualify for a 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit in China.
If you are from Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy, or 40 other countries, you can enjoy a 30-day visa-free stay.
If your country isn't on the visa-free list, then you must apply for an L tourist visa in advance (it's advisable to do so at least one month before departure). You can visit the Beijing International Services website to check visa types, such as the L tourist visa, and obtain a list of required documents.
2. Can I use credit cards in Beijing? How to set up mobile payments without a Chinese bank account?
Mobile payments cover 95% of scenarios but typically require a Chinese bank card (some foreign cards are supported). Solution: At the Capital Airport Terminal 3 "Payment Service Center", activate payment functions with your passport and obtain a temporary SIM card.
Carry 200-500 yuan in cash: some temples, small vendors, and lockers only accept cash.
Internet access: Some international websites (like Google) require a VPN; it is advisable to install one in advance.
3. How to plan my Beijing trip?
3 to 4 days are recommended for "an essential trip" to Beijing, which will cover the most popular attractions – the Forbidden City, Great Wall, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, and hutongs.

4. What’s the best time to visit Beijing?
Beijing attracts thousands of visitors all year long. April, May, September, and October are the best months because of the fine weather.
But try to avoid May 1-5 (Labor Day Holiday) and October 1-7 (China National Day Holiday). Beijing is especially crowded during these holidays.
